Meet OceanFirst’s WaveMaker of the Month – Noel SpearNovember 1, 2020
We’re pleased to highlight our OceanFirst Bank colleagues who are making a difference with the Foundation’s nonprofit partners – we call them the “WaveMakers” and they’re extraordinary leaders and volunteers.
How long have you been on the OceanFirst team?
I will celebrate my fourth anniversary with the Bank in December.
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” John Lennon
What motivates you to stay involved and give back through volunteering?
My service work provides a sense of accomplishment and connection with people that makes me happy.
If you could have one song play every time you entered a room what would it be and why?
I think that I could accomplish anything if I heard the trumpets from Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky) announcing my entrance.
What aspects of your work are you most passionate about?
Despite the technical aspects, my work is really about people. How do I make them feel? How I can help them succeed?
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Don’t Stop Believing, Journey
What’s been your favorite volunteer activity?
I recently had the pleasure to serve on the Strategic Planning Task Force for the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County. This assignment was particularly challenging due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Our task was to envision the world as we would like it to be post-pandemic and identify how the organization can make that happen. This gave me a tremendous sense of hope for a better future once we overcome the challenges of 2020.
