Candy “Coated” Trunk or Treat 2025

A Season of Warmth: Candy “Coated” Trunk or Treat Outfits Youth With Operation Warm Coats

October may be known for costumes and candy, but OceanFirst has reshaped the season into something far more meaningful – a time dedicated to community support, family engagement, and ensuring  more than one thousand of New Jersey’s children head into winter wrapped in warm, brand‑new coats. This growing tradition began with a simple idea: if OceanFirst wanted to provide winter coats to local children, why not deliver them in a joyful, community‑centered setting? Trunk or Treat events blend fun and purpose, creating an environment where families can connect while children receive the essentials they need.  Thanks to the generosity of The Citta Family Foundation, Grunin Foundation, The Wintrode Family Foundation, Dr. Robert Previti, and The Levine Family Foundation, more than 1,600 children received new Operation Warm coats.

In Ocean County, partners including OceanFirst BankThe Hope Center, Interfaith Family Services, Bridge of Books, JBJ Soul Kitchen, Hope Sheds Light, and the Toms River Police Department – helped create a welcoming, resource‑rich experience. Families accessed local services, gathered information, and left feeling uplifted and supported.

In Atlantic County, the Halloween spirit soared at OceanFirst’s Candy “Coated” Trunk or Treat at the PAL of Egg Harbor Township. Volunteers in costume, decorated trunks and tables with upbeat music. Community partners included Jewish Family Service, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, Allies in Caring, Atlantic Cape Community College, and local first responders transformed the parking lot and indoor arena into a vibrant Halloween village. More than 350 children enjoyed activities, treats, and – most memorably – the moment they slipped into their new coats.

Momentum continued across south and central New Jersey. The Millville Pumpkin Extravaganza and Unity Square’s Trunk or Treat in New Brunswick ensured even more children received the winter warmth they needed.

What began as seasonal outreach has become a cherished tradition – one rooted in compassion, partnership, and the belief that every child deserves dignity and warmth.
