OceanFirst Scholarship Program

“By awarding me the OceanFirst Scholarship you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, which is learning and being able to obtain my career goals. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me. ” –  Atlantic Cape Community College Student Recipient 2020

OceanFirst Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting higher education. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to local Colleges and Universities in the OceanFirst footprint for the purpose of awarding scholarships. In the eleven years of the OceanFirst Scholarship Program, $3 million in grants have been awarded enabling more than 2,100 students from central and southern New Jersey to pursue their dream of an education.

In 2020, $400,000 has been awarded to our partner schools – Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University, Monmouth University, Ocean County College, Rowan College South Jersey – Cumberland Campus, Rowan University and Stockton University – to provide scholarships for direct educational expenses to students in any year of undergraduate study. Each College/University has awarded students a total of $50,000 in OceanFirst Scholarships. OceanFirst Scholarship recipients at Community Colleges received $1,000 awards and students at attending private Universities received $2,500 awards.

Each College/University evaluates all scholarship applications and selects recipients based on the College/University’s existing policies and procedures for awarding scholarships.  Selection decisions are made completely independent of OceanFirst Foundation.  Representatives from OceanFirst Bank and OceanFirst Foundation, including all employees and board members, do not participate in the selection process.
