Introduction to Board Service 02.29.2024

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” – John F. Kennedy

This year, we have a strong focus on connecting our talented OFB WaveMakers with the best nonprofits to make a BIG impact. Twenty-seven OceanFirst Bank WaveMakers had the opportunity to participate in two “Introduction to Board Service” training sessions hosted by Keith Timko, Support Center,  and Erik Estrada,  Community Foundation of South Jersey.  After the training portion of the day, OFB team members participated in a meet and greet style networking mixer with twenty local nonprofit partners.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, Boys and Girls Clubs of Cumberland County, Cancer Support Community New Jersey at Gilda’s Club, Contact of Ocean & Monmouth Counties, Family Promise of the Jersey Shore, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, HABcore, Inc. Habitat for Humanity of Southern Ocean County, The Hansen Foundation, Inc., Kingsway Learning Center, Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, Ranch Hope, Save Barnegat Bay, South Jersey Cultural Alliance, and Success 1st , are just a small sample of the organizations that participated in our first quarter Board Training and Networking event. WaveMakers have joined committees and are in discussions to join nonprofit boards as a result of this informative and impactful training!

The next events are scheduled for May in Monmouth and Camden Counties, which have already filled up! If you are interested in participating in our July training in Atlantic or Ocean County contact Julie Bellezza, Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator at jbellezza@oceanfirstfdn.org.
