WaveMakers Dig In to Make a Difference.
The warmer weather has finally arrived and the WaveMakers have been making the most of it – trading office time for garden time!
In May, OceanFirst’s Human Resources team joined children at Millhill Child and Family Development to prepare garden boxes and plant tomatoes. It was a joyful morning filled with giggles, garden gloves, and growing minds. The kids got their hands dirty, learned how to care for plants, and imagined the delicious tomatoes they’d soon be harvesting.
In July, WaveMakers spent the day at a local blueberry farm to pick and pack New Jersey’s favorite fruit for Fulfill. The blueberries were ultimately shared with local food pantries to distribute to families to enjoy. Along with other pickers an packers, this WaveMaker effort helped rescue more than 20,000 pounds of fruit that would have otherwise gone to waste.
Giving back takes on many forms and it’s proof that even the smallest acts – like planting a seed or picking a berry – can blossom into something truly meaningful.
