Q & A with OceanFirst’s WaveMaker of the Month – Debra Hall

December 6, 2019

We’re pleased to highlight our OceanFirst Bank colleagues who are making a difference with the Foundation’s nonprofit community partners – we call them the “WaveMakers” and they are extraordinary leaders and volunteers.

How long have you been a member of the OceanFirst team?

Five years.

Tell us about your favorite volunteer activities.

I don’t really have a favorite, I love them all.

What motivates you to stay involved and give back through volunteering?

By remembering that every little bit helps, whether it be in mentoring, helping those in need, helping the environment, etc.

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?

Spend time with my husband and two dogs, read, and bake.

What aspects of your work at you most passionate about?

Making sure that employees are paid accurately and on time.

Who inspires you? Why ?

My former boss, Ginny DeLuca, inspired me as she was my mentor and helped me learn my potential when I was just entering the workforce.

What experience has been most impactful for you?

Seeing how funds raised during an MS walk/ride was able to help a previous colleague as his MS progressed through the years.  They really helped him tremendously over the past 20+ years he has had MS.

What has been you’re favorite volunteer activity – and why?

Recently, it’s the beach cleanup and that’s because Tom did it with me, so not only were we helping the environment we were able to spend time together.
