“I am so proud of my son for receiving this scholarship and earning the generosity from OceanFirst Foundation. We really like the idea of this scholarship supporting local kids and local schools” – Desirae, Parent of Recipient
OceanFirst Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting higher education. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to local Colleges and Universities in the OceanFirst footprint for the purpose of awarding scholarships. In the ten years of the OceanFirst Scholarship Program, $2.6 million in grants have been awarded enabling more than 1,800 students from central and southern New Jersey to pursue their dream of an education.
In 2019, $400,000 was awarded to our partner schools – Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Cumberland County College (now Rowan College South Jersey, Georgian Court University, Monmouth University, Ocean County College, Rowan University and Stockton University – to provide scholarships for direct educational expenses to students in any year of undergraduate study. Each College/University awarded students a total of $50,000 in OceanFirst Scholarships. OceanFirst Scholarship recipients at Community Colleges each received $1,000 awards and students at attending private Universities each received $2,500 awards.
Each College/University evaluated all scholarship applications and selected recipients based on the College/University’s existing policies and procedures for awarding scholarships. Selection decisions are made completely independent of OceanFirst Foundation. Representatives from OceanFirst Bank and OceanFirst Foundation, including all employees and board members, do not participate in the selection process.
The deadline to apply for a 2019 scholarship was May 1, 2019. Please check back in January 2020 for details on the availability of 2020 Scholarship assistance.
