OceanFirst Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting higher education. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to local Colleges and Universities in the OceanFirst footprint for the purpose of awarding scholarships. In the eight years of the OceanFirst Scholarship Program, $1.8 million in grants have been awarded enabling more than 1,100 high school graduates from central and southern New Jersey to pursue their dream of an education.
In 2017, $400,000 has been awarded to our partner schools – Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Cumberland County College, Georgian Court University, Monmouth University, Ocean County College, Rowan University and Stockton University – to provide scholarships for direct educational expenses to incoming full-time freshmen students. Each College/University awards students a total of $50,000 in OceanFirst Scholarships.
OceanFirst Scholarship recipients at Community Colleges each receive $1,000 awards and students at attending private Universities each receive $2,500 awards. Each College/University evaluates all scholarship applications and select recipients based on the College/University’s existing policies and procedures for awarding scholarships. Selection decisions are made completely independent of OceanFirst Foundation. Representatives from OceanFirst Bank and OceanFirst Foundation, including all employees and board members, do not participate in the selection process.
